Fantastic Friday ~ Finished Object Friday

Hooray for me, I actually got  a craft project done.   I needed a new patriotic wreath for my porch, so here it is.   Now to get the rest of the porch and patio ready for summer,  come back warm weather.   I am linking up with Chari's Finished Object Friday.  Go over there and see the cute apron she made.  Piper got one for Christmas and thinks it is pretty neat.

Mommy Moments Monday

It's time to clean house!
Alright friends I want to know how you go about keeping your houses clean.   I did not realize how hard it would be to keep a clean house and keep up with laundry with a 4 year old and two babies.   I have never used a cleaning schedule but I am about to start.  I found one here that I kind of liked but it was not everything I needed or some it did not apply to us,  so I have altered it (I will post the new one later).    So tell me how you manage because I know some of you have beautifully clean homes.   Do you clean when you think it needs it or do you have a schedule?    I would love to know what works for you and your family.    I dislike having a messy house and I also dislike cleaning on the weekends.

Mommy Moments Monday

Good Monday morning friends,  I hope you all had a great weekend.   I know I sure did...I spray painted and redecorated.   It puts a smile on my face just typing it.   My entryway was driving me crazy.   It was dark (black bench, black shelf), so what do you think I did?   You guessed it,  painted the bench and took the shelf down.  I am loving the results.
*This is the before,  as you can tell it was taken in the fall.  I did not take a pic before I started the redo. Smack my head!
The after is so much better.   Sunny yellow, pretty blues and white...slowly turning this drab house into a "cottage".
The old window came from a barn here on the farm,  they replaced the windows and were going to toss them.  I saved four of them from an awful death and gave them new life.  :)   I knew it need a banner so I used scrapes from my kitchen curtains(you can see those here) and made this one.   The lamp shade needed new life so it to got a makeover,  I covered the shade with burlap and glued a few fabric flowers on it.
And of course the bench got a coat of white paint,   it now looks worthy to be in my entry.
The other side also go a little love,  the frame was red but is now blue.   I am amazing with a can of spray paint,  not really I just have a good time.   The other day my husband said "is there anything in this house that has not been spray painted?"    It sure is cheaper then buying new.     Well that is my Mommy Moment for the week,  hope you enjoyed your peek into our entry.
And just to make you smile here is a cute picture of the kiddos.  Piper informed me they were camping.  She sure does love her babies.

Christmas Day 4

Loving my "new" wooden box,  I am using it to hold Piper's countdown packages.   I also love the burlap ribbon I found, it adds just the right touch.
Eric came home the other day and told me he had a wooden box for me,  he was cleaning out a shed and found it full of bolts.  He told the guy he was working with "I think my wife would like that."  I love that man!

Piper's Big Girl Room

Kind of a sad time for Mommy(my baby is growing up) but Miss Piper is loving it.  My Mom was here to visit a few weeks ago and we moved Piper into the spare room so the babies can have her old room.  We changed the comforter to something very girly and fun (Target) and found the perfect accessories at Hobby Lobby.
She is enjoying the big bed,  when we told her she would be getting a new room with a big bed she said "Good now all my animals will not fall out."  I guess toddler beds are not made to hold 101(give or take a few) stuffed animals.   She is also enjoying having space for her child size Graco pack & play and swing, we got these pieces from her cousin, it is amazing how much they are like the real thing.
The reading nook,  Piper will spend great amounts of time sitting in her bean bag reading books and listening to tapes.  She also loves her flower night light,  I love the fact that is matches the room so well and does not look like your ordinary night light(Ikea).
And lastly the toy box filled to the brim with dress up/princess clothes, shoes and accessories.
Well I hope you have enjoyed seeing Pipers room, I was about to get in trouble by family members for not posting pictures yet.

I am in L-O-V-E

Yes, I am in Love with my husband and my "new" kitchen.  Awhile back I showed you the evolving of the kitchen here, from dirty to clean, to painted cabinets, to new counter and floor, well I disliked the green walls with the new look.  Still loved the color but it was not jiving anymore and I was dying to have yellow.  My all time favorite color.    So here is the "new" look.
Thanks to my wonderful Mother for making my curtains,  they are so cute.  This picture does not do them justice,  I will have to take another one and post for you all to see  the cuteness.   Anyway I ordered my fabric from Fabric.com,  very reasonably priced fabric.  The idea for the curtains came from Pinterest,  love this kitchen.
My sweetheart brought me some old barn windows they were throwing out and wouldn't you know a few coats of paint and vinyl letters and WOW I have a very cheap decoration.  I have two more windows in the basement just waiting for me to transform them.
Don't you just love the lighter wall color,  I know I do.  The decorating did not cost much mostly I just pulled things from the decoration closet and found new homes for it.  I am loving the airy, cottage look so much,  it sure makes having to spend time in the kitchen more enjoyable.
The coffee corner.  Don't you just love the dotted mugs?  A birthday gift from my brother and soon to be sister in law, the mugs make drinking your coffee so fun.
And the last little counter, with it simple decorations.    Hope you enjoyed seeing the finished (for now) kitchen,  I say for now because with people like me you never know what I might change next.

The month of March at our house!

March started out with me wondering if I was crazy for starting another painting project but now that it is finished I love it.  Photo's to come.   The other day my Mom asked Piper "Do you like to paint?"  Piper replied "No, my Mommy does."  SMILE-she knows me well.
This month we also added to our family, this sweet guy just showed up one day and now thinks he belongs.  We have named him Prince Harry,  we all love him (even Eric, though he will not admit it).
After trying to drive her car around outside with sandals on(they were not working very well), Piper came running inside and found her Pink John Deere boots and said "these will work much better".  Love that little girl.
Spring is here,  we have been enjoying warmer than normal temps for March.  Love it!
And last but not least my Mom came for her annual spring visit.  We had so much fun, making curtains, prettying up the house and of course shopping  and enjoying cups of coffee together.  I Love my Mom.  Thanks for coming to see us NeeNee, can't wait until you come back and bring Grumpy.

Kitchen Transformation

I am so excited to share our kitchen update with you, while we were away at Christmas we had our kitchen worked on.  It was so nice to come home and see the wonderful things that had been done.  So now I will give you a photo tour of the kitchen from the time we bought the house until now.
Below is the kitchen is the way to kitchen looked when we started cleaning it, the people were taking a lot longer to move out them what had been agreed on to we came in and began boxing stuff(junk) and putting it in the garage.  The first time we looked at the house I got home and asked Eric "what color were the counter tops?"

We painted and cleaned, the kitchen was then presentable.
I disliked the dark cabinets so this fall I painted them, quite an undertaking.  The kitchen was now looking pretty good, except for the white and gold fleck counter top, and blue and orange peel and stick tile, that was coming up in big sections.  Every time you mopped or moved something across the floor more came up.
Enter Winslow Home Improvements, those guys are great. As I said before while we were gone for Christmas we had the carpenters come and "help" our kitchen out.  We gave it the works,  new counter tops, ceramic tile, new sink, faucet and a Dishwasher.  I am so totally in love with that thing!
I am so thankful to have a "new" kitchen, it has been so fun rearranging things and decorating.
Thank you to both sets of parents who helped us with this, it is a great Christmas present.    I hope you have enjoyed this photo tour, sure wish I could have my blog friends over and see it in person, I might even let you try my new Keurig coffee/drink maker.  Stay tuned, in the near future I will share with you the other great things that have been done to the house.

Dressed For Fall

Welcome, so glad you stopped by to see my fall Living Room decor.  First off is the entryway, I absolutely love my bench, it makes such a cute place to sit seasonal decor and also houses all off our winter mittens, hats and scarves.
Come on in and have a seat in the living room. I am loving my recliner, not exactly the color I would have chosen but the price was very reasonable (FREE). And hey, off white goes with about anything, right?  Can't you just feel that cool autumn breeze blowing the curtains, makes you want to sit, read a book and have a latte'.
Now to the other side of the room, still loving my photo display above the couch.  I am thinking of putting Christmas pictures of  Piper in the frames for the Christmas/winter season.  What do you lovely readers think?
The little corner nook, I am loving the way this turned out this year.  Special memories displayed for all to see, the couples in the photos are my grandparent~ right frame: Jack and Clara Norwood(Mom's parents), left frame: Ed and Dorothy Robinson(Dad's parents). The shadow box on the bottom shelf hold a drawing by my Great Grandma Brasher(Mom's Grandma) and the crayolas she used to draw with.  The pumpkins were made by my Grandad Jack Norwood.
And lastly the piano, with her touches of fall.  Thank you for stopping in for a visit, stay tuned for the unveiling of a much needed makeover. I am very excited to show all of you what I have been up to.

Redecorating again...

Well fellow bloggers I am at it again, redecorating. So tell me, how do you decorate? Do you change colors for the seasons, just pull out a few trinkets for the season or do you do like me and change the whole color scheme for fall/winter and spring/summer? I tend to lean toward darker shades in the fall, about the end of August you can find me changing the living room and entry to browns, reds, oranges, such cozy colors. Then about the middle to end of February I start thinking spring, out comes the pinks, yellows, blues and greens. The photo above and below are a glimpse of how the room was decorated for valentines.
Well this year I decided to try a total different color then before, don't you just love spray paint. I was walking through Hobby Lobby and this color of paint caught my eye, I bought a can not knowing what I was even going to do with it. Now I am scouring the house finding items to paint.
This spring/summer I have decided to go with a shabby chic/cottage feel, and I am loving it already. The memories sign is just one of the items I have painted so far, don't you just love the color it is called "Aqua" by American Accents. So tell me how you decorate, I would love to hear about your style. Full room reveal coming soon, gotta let the paint dry.

Finished Object Friday

I am so proud of myself for coming up with this idea, it turned out pretty good. I had a beautiful picture above the couch in red, gold and such, beautiful picture but wanted something less heavy for spring and summer. And so Ta-Da, a little bit of spray paint and a few holes in the walls (it is not easy getting those things straight) now I have a great new look for the season.
Go on over to the Chari Tree and see what cute things she has been crafting.

My bedroom...Finished Object

I am loving my finished object, my bedroom is finally looking the way I want it. My sweet husband let me order the quilt for my birthday, he thought this was great cause he did not have to shop. So when my Mom was here we set to work redecorating and spray painting. I wanted a small table for Eric's side of the bed but all the ones I looked at were out of my price range until we went to the Goodwill and found this one for $12.99. Now let me tell you it was not the most beautiful thing you have ever laid eyes on but I knew a good coat of spray paint would make it work and now I have the perfect side table. The shelf on the wall also go a good coat of paint, it is amazing how it changes the looks of stuff.
I found this wonderful little tea for one pot for next to nothing and knew it would look great in my room. I decided Eric's catch all box need updating and so off to the paint station it went, looks great now.
After a trip to Joann's and Hobby Lobby the room is almost complete. Don't you just love the bouquet of flowers, they don't need watered, Yeah. Well I hope all of you enjoyed my finished object this week, I know I sure am. For more great finished objects stop by the Chari Tree.
