Getting ready for Turkey Day
Well the guys around here are getting ready for the big feasting day, they are finishing harvest today. They set a goal to be done by today and as Merlin put it "if the sky doesn't fall down" they will be done. I am so happy, it will be nice to have my husband home earlier than 3 in the morning.
The kids had not ridden in the combine yet so we went and rode for a while this morning. They both enjoyed it. Keegan thought it was so fun he eventually went to sleep.
Merlin in the combine and Grandad in the auger wagon.
Eric being the harvest elf.
My big helper! Payton help me mash the sweet potatoes this morning for the casserole. I am so thankful for all the many blessings the Lord has given to me, a wonderful husband, a baby coming before we know it, the greatest family on earth and my sweet little Payton and Keegan. The list could go on and on but I will end by saying that I am thankful for each one of my friends old and new alike. I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

Trying out the new camera
Yesterday I went to the field and rode with Eric in the grain truck for a couple of hours. It was nice to be with him for awhile, he has not been coming home until around four in the morning and leaving again by eight. So needless to say our time together has been nearly nothing.
We had fun trying out our new camera, it takes great pictures and videos.
Just a little clip of what you would see in the field if you were to come and visit us. Merlin(Eric's Dad) is driving the combine and Grandad Miller is driving the tractor. Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday. I am going to really enjoy spending the entire day with my husband.

Ladybug, Ladybug fly away home...
I used to think ladybugs were cute little insects but that is until I spent a fall in Iowa. Every fall they invade our house, yesterday was no exception. It was a very beautiful day the weather was about 60 degrees, the sun was shining and someone was combining bean across the road from us.
When I went outside late in the afternoon this is the sight I saw, a polka dot house. I could not even leave my storm door open to let sunlight in cause they were just coming in a making themselves at home.
Well anyway that is the joys of living in the country. All we need are a couple of good cold days and nights and the problem will pretty well be taken care of. Hope everyone has a good rest of the week. I am off to town and then to get busy making some more Christmas presents that need to be completed by Monday.

It's here...
My new camera arrived yesterday, I am so excited to learn what everything does. I started reading the manual yesterday but did not get to far, Keegan kept wanting to grab it. Well I am off to pack Eric's lunch, the weather is supposed to be nice this week, we are praying they can get a lot of harvest done. It makes for some really lonely nights because Eric doesn't come to bed until after 2 or 3 in the morning but it is worth it since we are over a month behind getting the harvest in. I know it would be appreciated if everyone would pray that the rain would stay away. Well I got to pack him a lunch and work on some more Christmas presents. I have nine gifts out of twenty six done so far.

Our weekend...
We had a great weekend babysitting the kids, it is good practice for us. They came over Saturday evening and we played, ate supper, gave bath's and just had a great time. They also went to church with us, which went pretty well considering Payton goes every once in a great while with her Grandma and Keegan never goes. On the way home from church Payton told me "When I come to your house again we can go to church." I think she liked it.
Well I guess I'd better go and make my husband an Apple salad I promised him. In other news they have begun some harvesting but not what they would normally be doing at this time, all the rain this spring really messed things up. Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Harvest Pictures
Here are few farm pictures. When I told Eric I was doing a blog, he wanted to know if I had any tractor pictures on here. So now I can say I do. Harvest is very interesting, somedays are very short if we get rain or some are very long (3,4,5 in the morning) if rain is on its way. If you want to have a interesting life just try being a farmer (or farmers wife) for a day.
Harvest Time
Hi everyone,
It is once again harvest time here in Iowa. Things are starting to pickup on the farm, grain bins are being emptied of last years corn to make room for the new, augers are being setup to put the new corn in the bins. Corn chaff is blowing and making "fall snow." It is a busy time of the year for us but it is also a fun time. I love going out and riding with Eric while he drives the tractor and auger wagon, while Merlin(Eric's dad) is combining.
The weather is also making us aware that fall is here, yesterday the temp did not get above 65 degrees. It really make you want to get a cup of apple cider, curl up and read a book.
Happy Harvest Everyone
