Back in Time

This last week we spent time in the 1850's, at the Log Village during Midwest Old Threshers Reunion.   We love this time we get to dress in our prairie clothes and just enjoy life the way it was way back then.
Mr. Blake in his cute baby dress.
Miss. Brenna stuffing a block in her mouth.
And me, myself and I popping popcorn over the fire.   I also helped make lye soap, demonstrate washing clothes using a washboard, grinding coffee and tying rugs.
Piper got to spend some time in the school with her cousins,  she thought she was big stuff.
These are the students that were in the school this year.
If you would like to see post I have done about this in the past just click here.

Old Threshers

Holding my Nana's kettle corn. I sure would like to try it.
We had a great time at Old Threshers yesterday, the weather was perfect for being outside. Piper had a good time looking at all the sights and having people talk to her.
A steam engine, this is what Old Threshers is all about, the way steam engines were used to thresh stuff years ago.
There were some pretty horse being used for threshing too. They are massive animals.
Miss Piper liked the horse and most anything she saw. She loves to ride in her stroller.

Eric finally got his caramel apple, he loves those things.

Miss Piper the showgirl. She thought it was great fun peeking out at Mommy.

Her first carousel ride. A lady that worked there said "she has never seen a child so young enjoy the ride so much."

This is the way she wanted to ride, laying down. She would pat the horse and holler.

Silly little girl loved my dill pickle, she would get upset if I did not give it to her.
Well as you can tell we had a great time, I love the days that we get to spend as a family. Tomorrow is another big day, the little town of Stockport is having its annual BBQ Days. There will be a parade, tractor and truck pull, baby contest (Piper will be in it) and much more. We are going to have a great time with our friends there, that will be our last "family fun time" for awhile because harvest and Daddy's long hours will start pretty soon. So we are enjoying these last few "fun" days.

The Log Village 1856

Here are some pictures of some of the things at the Log Village. I had a great time pretending to be a pioneer, I mostly helped prepare food for all the Log Village volunteers. We cook all sorts of things, Peach cobbler, Apple crisp, Fresh Green beans, Corn Pudding, Ham and the list goes on. All of that was not cooked for one meal but we did have to make a lot, yesterday for lunch we served about 65 people not including the 21 children for the schoolhouse, they get a basket lunch. I also met many new people and over all just had a great time. If you have any questions about any of the pictures just ask. Click on the picture to see more.

Spring is coming...

Sunday when we got home from church I noticed these pretty flowers blooming on the side of our house. My tulips and daylilies are starting to come up and the grass is getting greener, I am so glad that winter is over. We are getting more rain today, we have been having alot of rain plus we had a lot of snow, it is making for a very wet spring. They should began planting in about two weeks but if it does not dry out it could keep them out of the fields for awhile. Please pray that everything goes well or else I could have a very grumpy husband. AAHH!!What do you think of my new fashions? I thought I would go back a "few" years and bring back so good styles. Not really. I am going to participate in the Midwest Old Threshers "Log Village" and you have to wear pioneer clothes, so I will be having someone make me this dress. I think it is going to be a lot of fun, Eric's Aunt DeRene and her kids and some other friends will be doing it too. I will keep you posted on the progress of the dress. Old Threshers is a lot of fun, check out the link. Come visit us and go see all there is to see. We would love to have you.
