Vacation 2010

We had a wonderful time on our vacation to La Porte, Indiana for the Red Power Round Up. Eric took his International 1206 Wheatland to the show, there was red for as far as the eye could see. We heard that there were over 1,000 tractors at the show. Miss Piper is a true farmers daughter, we took her to the zoo and she did not get one bit excited but the minute we saw all the tractors she got very excited and began making motor noised and pointing. Click on this link to view my facebook album of some of the pictures. We took 265 pictures, of which over 200 were tractors, you have to be a real tractor nut to want to see all those. Enjoy.

Parade Time...

We took Piper to her first parade today, the small town of Birmingham, IA had there annual Homecoming Days parade. The above picture is a friend of ours Corey (his Dad works at the farm) he fixed this tractor up for a 4H project.
Eric took and 1206 Wheatland and drove it in the parade, it is newly painted and fixed up.
This is a friend of ours Mike and his nephew on Mike's green tractor, still working on him to get a red one.
Miss Piper was enjoying watching all the action, tractors and kids jumping around trying to get some candy. She acted like she was having a great time.
Enjoying time with her cousin Aaron Blauvelt from Arizona. We had a great time at the Homecoming Days just hanging out and having family time. Hope all of you have a wonderful Fathers Day.

You been farm'n long?

Piper got her first tractor ride on Thursday. She thought it was great can't you tell. The floor makes a great place to take a little nap.
Trying out the drivers seat while Dad checks the planter. I think it's pretty comfy.
Piper liked riding in the tractor so much she wanted to go out again on Friday. This time she got to "help" Dad drive, well ok, maybe she just chewed on her fingers.
Just me & my Dad. Thanks Dad for letting me farm with you, I will be helping you before you know it.

Happy New Year from the Farm!

Here's wishing everyone a Happy and Blessed New Year. We are spending our New Years Eve at home, eating snacks and playing games together. Eric wanted me to show you what the farm got for Christmas, a new 4-wheel drive tractor. Well now that I have done my duty of showing you the new tractor, I wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Iowa Tractorcade

Well, you city folks miss out on exciting things like tractor rides going through your neighborhood. Yesterday the tractorcade came through Fairfield and down the road past our street. I was coming home from town and got stuck behind the first group, what is usually a 10 to 12 minute drive took me 40 minutes. You got to love country people. Well anyway it was alot of fun sitting at the end of the road watching them go by. They said there were about 460 tractors and they had them divided into seven groups, we did not watch them all.

That's me in the car at the end of the line, going 10 mph or less the whole way home.
One just happened to need some work. And Eric was able to grab some tools
from the shop and help out.
Ladies, how about this laundry dryer. I don't think Eric would drive around like this.

Out here in the field...

Here is some pictures of Eric planting corn. He will be very happy to know I am posting tractor pictures. The guys were able to get in the field Saturday and Today and we were hoping the rest of the week would stay dry so they could get a lot more work done. But unfortunately the wind had picked up and it is lightning and thundering, we really don't need more rain, we are already very behind in our planting. Please help pray that the rain will stay away for the next couple of weeks.
Here is a view from my seat in the tractor. Sometimes it can be a very bumpy ride.
And last but not least Payton sitting on her stool eating Goldfish. She loves to ride with Eric and it is even better when he let's her "drive."
Come visit us everyone we would love to show you the farm and who knows Payton might even let you sit on her stool in the tractor.

Harvest Pictures

Here are few farm pictures. When I told Eric I was doing a blog, he wanted to know if I had any tractor pictures on here. So now I can say I do. Harvest is very interesting, somedays are very short if we get rain or some are very long (3,4,5 in the morning) if rain is on its way. If you want to have a interesting life just try being a farmer (or farmers wife) for a day.

Harvest Time

Hi everyone,
It is once again harvest time here in Iowa. Things are starting to pickup on the farm, grain bins are being emptied of last years corn to make room for the new, augers are being setup to put the new corn in the bins. Corn chaff is blowing and making "fall snow." It is a busy time of the year for us but it is also a fun time. I love going out and riding with Eric while he drives the tractor and auger wagon, while Merlin(Eric's dad) is combining.
The weather is also making us aware that fall is here, yesterday the temp did not get above 65 degrees. It really make you want to get a cup of apple cider, curl up and read a book.
Happy Harvest Everyone
